According to relevant media reports, British Columbia in western Canada was hit by strong rainstorms, which triggered landslides and floods.

As a result, Vancouver Port Railway services have been suspended. At the same time, the port is also trying to cope with the surge in goods.

It is understood that this is the second time in less than five months that the region has been paralyzed by extreme weather. Wildfires swept through parts of British Columbia in July, suspending train operations for nearly two weeks.

Matti polychronis, the head of the port, also issued an early warning: "the operation of the terminal will also be interrupted and the ships calling at the port will face delays.

The official also said that all railway services in and out of Vancouver Port have been stopped, which means that goods may accumulate in the port for some time.

According to statistics, the value of goods transported by cars and containers in Vancouver Port every day is as high as 440 million US dollars. At present, there are 61 ships in the port, including 23 berthing and 33 berthing.

"Due to the disruption of terminal operations, it is expected that ship delays will increase and the demand for anchorage will increase," Matti said

"We are working closely with terminal operators and rail companies to understand the impact of these delays on terminal operations and develop a recovery plan."

Previously, due to the surge in imports, Vancouver Port accumulated a large number of empty containers, and the capacity of the port was about to run out.

The accumulation of a large number of empty containers will not only cause congestion in Vancouver Port, but also increase the cost of cargo transportation and delay the delivery time of goods.

Some freight forwarders have received a notice that all expressways will be closed for 2-3 weeks due to rainstorms and landslides.

The Canadian Pacific Railway is one of the important railways in Canada. Its route spans Vancouver to Montreal. At the same time, it also has a cross-border route to Chicago, New York and other cities in the United States.
