Zhongyuan Haikong ordered 10 container ships


The group recently announced that its holding subsidiary Dongfang overseas will cooperate with its two shipyards to order 10 container ships worth US $1575.8 million. The two shipyards are Nantong COSCO Kawasaki and Dalian COSCO Kawasaki.


It is reported that Nantong COSCO Kawasaki and Dalian COSCO Kawasaki will build five container ships respectively, and the latest delivery time is expected to be the end of 2025.


COSCO Haikong said that the shipbuilding action was in line with the long-term strategic development plan within the group. This will respond well to the next market demand.


In July, COSCO mercury, a wholly-owned subsidiary of COSCO sea holdings, signed an agreement on shipbuilding 10 ships with Yangzhou heavy industry. In addition to the 12 ships ordered from its two shipyards last year, Zhongyuan sea control group now has orders for 32 container ships.


Interestingly, the capacity gap between Dafei group and COSCO sea control group is not too large. If the shipping capacity of the order is included, COSCO sea control will surpass COSCO Dafei group to become the third in the world.

Facing the global shortage of container ships, shipowner seaspan will spend 3.4 billion yuan to order five LNG dual fuel container ships from Yangzi River shipping group. With recent new orders, the group's annual order volume has reached 118.


It is worth noting that seaspan has been cooperating with Samsung Heavy Industry before. This choice of Yangtze River shipping industry means that Samsung Heavy Industry's monopoly of the market has ended.


In addition, the group announced that in addition to the order of shipowner seaspan, there was a shipbuilding order of one 82000 TEU from a shipping company. This has refreshed the annual ship order volume.
