With Christmas coming, the United States has entered the peak season of imported goods. However, the serious congestion of the supply chain has added a lot of trouble to this process.

Data show that a large number of outbound ships are waiting in line at Los Angeles and Long Beach port, and the congestion is extremely deteriorated.

On August 14 alone, more than 70 ships were added to wait here.

Nowadays, with the increasing transportation demand, many equipment in Los Angeles port have reached the maximum working load.

This greatly reduces the efficiency of goods turnover and increases the residence time.

On the other hand, the port of Los Angeles released data on throughput.

The data shows that the actual throughput of the port is 895600teu, which is smaller than the previously predicted interval, indicating that the expected throughput has not been reached.

The actual container import volume is 521706teu, which is also lower than the actual total. This is much lower than the same period in 19 years.

At present, the problem faced by Los Angeles port is not only the increasing number of ships, but also the lack of transportation capacity.

Data show that last year, there were only less than 40 liners per week from Asia to North America, and now there are more than 50 liners for service.

However, most ships can only wait at the anchorage when they arrive at the port of destination. In August, 85% of the ships went directly to the anchorage to wait for the berth.

Facing the continuous congestion, Cordero, the person in charge of Long Beach port, said he planned to increase the operation time and even consider all day operation.

But the shortage of dock workers and truck drivers makes it difficult to achieve this goal.

Earlier, some shipping companies said that the United States is facing unprecedented challenges. The serious shortage of port equipment and labor shortage are the primary problems to be solved.

This was also confirmed by the words of seroka, the person in charge of Los Angeles, who said that at present, the dwell time of containers in terminals and warehouses has reached an all-time high of 4.6 days and 9.2 days respectively.

He concluded that ports on the west coast of the United States are now generally facing congestion; The warehouse is also full; Insufficient railway capacity; Container shortage.

This situation has a great impact on Christmas imports.
