S & P global Platts released a report that the dry bulk freight rates of most commodities have reached an all-time high.


Take white sugar as an example, the freight from Boston to Shandong, China is as high as $65 per ton. This is nearly twice as high as last year.


Some experts believe that the reason for the rise in dry bulk freight is likely to be that the recovery of the construction industry requires a large number of raw materials such as ore and coal. 


At the same time, many countries began to import a large number of agricultural products, which increased the demand for dry bulk transportation, resulting in a rise in freight.

 

For example, farm products shipped from China to the United States rose from $12 to $25 per ton; Even the freight of agricultural products from Australia to Malaysia has more than doubled from $20 to $45.

 

The rise of dry bulk freight has affected the food industry to a certain extent, and the prices of many foods have increased, because dry bulk carriers mainly transport agricultural products and other bulk commodities.

A staff member engaged in international logistics service revealed that there is a shortage of accommodation on many routes, mainly because the shortage of transport capacity can not meet the surging demand.

 

Nowadays, it has become a daily routine to change from airliner cargo transportation to full cargo aircraft cargo transportation. 


In addition, the popular cargo routes of many large domestic airlines are basically in full load, and there is a shortage of accommodation.  

 

However, this is a good thing for airlines. Due to the rising demand for air cargo recently, the net profit of airlines is very considerable.

 

Data show that in the first half of this year, the air cargo volume in China reached 3.659 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%.
