However, another port is currently affected by congestion-the port of Antwerp in Belgium. The ships berthed in this port have been berthed for the longest five days.


But there are also signs that since this year, especially since the Suez Canal was opened at the end of March, the congestion of some ports that have been plagued by supply chain problems is expected to improve next month.


However, at the same time, the delay of the shipping schedule prompted Maersk and MSC to temporarily cancel Antwerp's call on the AE55/Griffin ring line for six weeks starting from the 23936TEU "MSC Diletta" that started in China this week.


Maersk said that due to "high storage yard density and particularly long waiting times for ships", the company has decided to skip the AE55 route to dock in Antwerp.


During this period, the AE55/Griffin route will still call at Le Havre. However, both Maersk and MSC described Le Havre as an "induction call."


This means that if there is not enough freight to make it economically viable, or there may be delays in operations, they can still decide not to call.


MSC stated that the congestion in Antwerp severely affected the reliability of the shipping schedule and caused shipment delays."

In the next six weeks, the Nordic itinerary of the AE55/Griffin route will call: Rotterdam-Le Havre-Felixstowe, in which Le Havre port replaces the port of Antwerp.


The shared ship partners said that cargo scheduled to Antwerp will be merged into the AE6/Lion loop.


However, due to the continued high demand for alternative ports of call and insufficient allocation, carriers may be forced to unload some Antwerp containers in Rotterdam.


This will increase the yard density at the Port of Rotterdam and may delay the delivery of containers.


However, Maersk said that the situation in the Nordic container ports is gradually improving.


In the port operations update last week, the company stated that there are currently no ship berthing delays in ports such as Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Felixstowe or Gdansk.


In Rotterdam, Maersk reported that berthing was delayed by 1-2 days, while berthing in Antwerp was delayed by 3-5 days.


But the company is optimistic about the prospects of the container terminal. He said: "Although the situation is still unstable, we expect that the status quo of Nordic ports will improve in the next 60 days."
