Recently, shipping companies continue to cancel voyages from China to Northern Europe and the West Coast of the United States to slow down the decline of spot freight rates of containers.

However, despite the sharp increase in the number of air carriers, the downward trend of freight rates has not been curbed.

After the third quarter, the performance of several shipping companies showed signs of slowing down. Compared with the historical high in the past two years, it has dropped sharply, and many enterprises have actively responded to the environment of normalized freight rates.

It is understood that the latest data released by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange shows that the freight rate of the route from Shanghai Port to the West America has fallen below the US $2000/FEU (40 feet) mark, and gradually returned to the pre epidemic level.

Due to the continuous delivery of large container ships, the freight rate of USD 1500 per large container (40 feet) on the spot market of the U.S. - Spain route in the recent week has fallen to the cost price of most shipping companies.

As one of the weathervanes of the shipping market, the freight and ocean freight of the Asia America West route has fallen all the way in the past one and a half months, and now it is close to 1500 dollars! Compared with the high point a year ago, this price has dropped by more than 90%.

Shanghai Airlines said that last week, China's export container transport market continued to adjust its trend, the overall performance of transport demand was poor, and the freight rate of most ocean routes continued to decline, dragging down the composite index.

The report issued by the Ningbo Shipping Exchange also pointed out that the North American route market is still in a state of oversupply, the route freight rate has maintained a downward trend, and the level of freight rate has continuously refreshed the lowest price.

Is the falling freight rate an opportunity or a challenge for freight forwarders? GLA once again reminds the freight forwarders to pay attention to the latest logistics information to ensure smooth business.
