Now the global freight market has been challenged. The strike of truck drivers and dock workers led to increased congestion in the port.

On the other hand, insufficient personnel and warehouse congestion lead to a large number of goods piled up here in the airport. Frankfurt Airport, the largest air cargo hub in Europe, is facing this dilemma.

An operator providing road transportation said that the congestion in the airport was so serious that air cargo companies had to divert cargo planes to other alternative airports.

However, due to the round-trip transportation of goods transferred to other airports, the overall demand for road services surged. In some cases, additional workload will also lead to delays and interruptions at alternative airports.

Breakwell, the head of wallenborn transportation company, said that although we are not sure whether the current situation of Frankfurt Airport will improve in September, we are still trying to expand the scale in a short time.

It added that the shortage of labor is a problem faced by all major hubs, and the extended stay is reducing the freight service capacity.

Due to staff shortages, Frankfurt Airport has become the latest airport to require airlines to reduce flights.

From July 18, the number of takeoff and landing at the airport was reduced to 88 sorties per hour. Previously, London Heathrow airport, London Gatwick Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport also issued similar statements.

Stephan haltmayer, CEO of quick cargo service, a freight forwarding company, said that the head of the airport requested that cargo flights be diverted to other airports on weekends in order to cope with and handle passenger flights stably during peak periods.

A Lufthansa Cargo spokesman said that the continuous tense ground handling conditions at Frankfurt Airport meant that cargo flights would operate at Munich Airport at the weekend until the end of July.

Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa, affirmed the decision of Frankfurt Airport to limit the number of flights.

"In recent weeks, we have canceled flights many times to relieve the pressure on the whole system. Now other airlines to and from Frankfurt will also cut flights."

Other airlines have also taken action. A spokesman for Air France KLM Martin Air Cargo said: "compared with other airlines, our performance is relatively good. We have taken some measures."

"For example, limiting bulk cargo on some flights and extending MCT of express services to alleviate possible ground handling capacity limitations."

GLA hereby reminds the majority of cargo owners and freight forwarders that if there are goods passing through Frankfurt Airport, they should pay attention to the latest airport developments in time to avoid delays in the delivery of goods.
