Recently, the strike tide has become more and more intense, and many countries around the world are facing the crisis of workers' strikes. In particular, port strikes occur frequently, which is undoubtedly a huge obstacle to the normal operation of the port.

It is understood that due to the impasse in the labor contract negotiation with the employer, German dock workers will carry out a 48 hour strike from today.

It is expected that the strike will lead to the interruption of the operation of major container ports such as Hamburg Port, Bremen port and William port.

In fact, this is the third strike in German ports and the longest one.

Verdi, the union representing the dock workers, called for a one-year agreement with employers to raise wages by 14%, including annual bonuses to compensate for soaring inflation.

Verdi's chief negotiator said: "the employer has not provided us with compensation for inflation. And this is what we need most."

Some experts said that if the strike continues, it will have a serious impact on the shipping schedule of liner companies and aggravate the congestion of container ports in northern Europe.

In fact, port workers had issued a similar warning strike that lasted 24 hours. However, it was this short 24 hours that led to the paralysis of Hamburg Port and other ports.

Before the official announcement of the strike, it was reported that the cargo handling speed of Hamburg Port slowed down significantly. Continued congestion has also led to the cancellation of railway services to and from ports.

In addition, the German operator metrans announced the suspension of train operations. Due to the delay of the train, the container delivery was seriously delayed, resulting in the failure to receive the goods on time.

The notice said that the traffic interruption at the port would also cause significant delays. Due to the strike, metrans is now forced to cancel at least 24 trains to and from northern Germany.

Truck drivers in LA/LB port announced a strike, and railway workers may follow suit

It is reported that truck drivers in LA/LB port will go on strike on July 13 to protest a controversial California law.

The law restricts the use of independent operators and classifies truck drivers as employees, the report said.

According to data, there are about 70000 truck owners and operators in California. CTA said that most of them are satisfied with their independent status and do not want to become employees.

In addition, truck drivers in Auckland port will also plan to strike next Monday.. A number of freight companies have been notified to and from Auckland port.

On the railway side, the negotiation between the trade union representing 115000 railway workers and the employer was deadlocked. If the government does not intervene, it may trigger a strike by railway workers.

The strike will exacerbate congestion in U.S. ports and increase pressure on the already tight supply chain.

Gene seroka, the executive director of the port of Los Angeles, said that railways and importers must remove the goods piled up in the port of Los Angeles to avoid supply chain congestion.
