After shipping companies, freight forwarders and logistics companies also suspend operations in Russia

After HPL and ONE announced the suspension of bookings to and from Russia a few days ago, 2M alliance partners, the world's first and second largest shipping companies also officially announced that they will tentatively schedule round-trip bookings to Russia.

Switzerland-based MSC said it would "temporarily suspend all cargo bookings to and from Russia, covering the Baltic Sea, Black Sea and Far East Russia."

Danish shipping giant Maersk officially announced that it will tentatively schedule bookings to and from Russia. It said: As our business has been affected by sanctions, Maersk's new bookings to and from Russia by sea, air and intercontinental rail will be suspended.

Large forwarders also join the ranks of suspending operations in Russia

Due to the impact of the international situation, not only shipping companies have suspended booking services from Russia, but even large freight forwarding companies and logistics companies do not accept Russian freight business.

Seko Logistics, a well-known freight logistics giant in North America, said it has stopped all freight in and out of Russia.

Another major logistics company, DHL, also announced yesterday that it has also suspended its operations in Russia and will not accept shipments in and out of the country until further notice.

At the same time, DHL has also suspended entry services to Russia and Belarus until further notice. Also, take into account the safety of employees. Offices and operations in Ukraine have been closed.

As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continued, some EU countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom closed their airspace to Russia. In response, Russia also restricted flights from 36 countries including Britain and Germany from flying in Russian airspace.

Sanctions on Russia's air cargo will face a further surge in shipping prices, the sources said.

On the other hand, DSV said freight rates are rising due to the closure of Russian airspace. Notifications have been received from some airlines that the war surcharge will be fully implemented on all routes.

The surcharge is to make up for the additional flight time required to avoid Russian airspace on certain routes. All airlines are expected to follow suit.

Moreover, DSV decided to stop all rail services between Asia and Europe. Cargoes currently in transit will continue to be transported, but new bookings cannot be made.
