Affected by the epidemic, the global maritime supply chain has also suffered a great blow. On February 2, 2022, a large container ship full of goods under Maersk had an accident.
It is understood that the container ship named "Mumbai Maersk" deviated from the track on the way from Rotterdam, the Netherlands to Bremen, Germany. The ship was full of goods exported from China.
However, the ship ran aground six kilometers north of wangerooge Island, Germany. After the accident, the German Maritime Emergency time central command organized rescue.
At that time, the government dispatched seven salvage tugs to salvage the container ship, but failed. It was not until 4 February that these salvage vessels succeeded in breaking the "Mumbai Maersk" from grounding.
Maersk announced that they would further evaluate the ship to see if it could move forward. In addition, they will also conduct an in-depth investigation into the cause of the grounding.
At present, all the crew members on the ship are in a safe state. The accident has not caused casualties, and there is no sign of hull rupture.
It also said that if there is any reason to delay the shipment to the next port during the evaluation process, some necessary measures will be taken to reduce the shipping delay.
In fact, the ship started from Asia and once anchored in Dalian port, Ningbo port and Shanghai port in China. It ran aground on the way of unloading, so the goods destined for Bremen port are still on board.
Now "Mumbai Maersk" has been successfully released from the grounding and has been berthed in the port of Bremen. So GLA Family hereby remind that if there are freight forwarders and cargo owners on the ship, please pay attention to the latest information in time to avoid shipping delay.
