At the end of 2021, the Suez Canal, the world's most important canal, announced an important decision. According to the canal authority, ship charges through the canal will increase by 6% from February 2022.
Osama rabea, chairman of the Suez authority, said that they would consider the global economic situation and implement a flexible pricing strategy to realize the interests of the canal authority and customers.

However, just recently, the Suez Canal Authority issued another charging notice, which attracted the boos of many people in the industry. They have said that the charge is unreasonable.
The notice shows that from January 1, 2022, all ships entering the Suez canal must comply with the following relevant regulations.
During the pilot boarding and disembarking, the ship elevator shall be in good working condition to avoid fatigue or injury caused by the pilot climbing the building.
All pilots must be able to use the internal stairs of the living area on board during boarding and disembarking.
It is worth noting that the authority said that if the staff of the ship violated the above provisions, they would be fined $3000. And before boarding, the staff need to have a physical examination and ensure that they have been vaccinated.
Obviously, this provision has attracted a lot of discussion as soon as it was issued. Some experts pointed out that the Suez Canal Authority also has great management problems.
As early as the beginning of 2021, the long grant ran aground in the Suez Canal, resulting in serious blockage of the canal. At that time, the canal authority put all the responsibility on the ship.
However, the ship's lawyer said that the Changci entered the Suez Canal with the assistance of two tugboats. Therefore, it believes that the Suez canal also has a certain responsibility in this incident.
Anyway, the Suez Canal is the oldest and most important canal in the world. The Canal Authority will do everything possible to make the canal run more smoothly.
