Some time ago, after floods and landslides in British Columbia, Canada, the railway track suffered a great impact.
As a result, all railway services in Vancouver Port were suspended and several roads were closed. This greatly restricts trucks from entering and leaving the port.
Maersk said that it is expected that the freight at Vancouver Port will be affected in the next few weeks. Terminal congestion will intensify and the risk of ship delay will also increase.
In order to maintain the smooth supply chain, Air Canada has greatly increased the freight capacity in and out of Vancouver Port.
Jason berry, vice president of the airline, said that Air Canada has used large aircraft to replace small aircraft on 28 scheduled flights. An additional 13 large aircraft were added.
The airline said it would continue to pay close attention to the latest situation and adjust the freight schedule accordingly.
The goods to Canada were inspected
Recently, some shippers said that many containers from China to Canada were inexplicably inspected after arriving at the port.
Because of the slow speed of inspection and the aggravation of port congestion, containers have to be stored in the terminal warehouse. This will bring great storage cost.
A cargo owner transported a container from China to Vancouver, Canada. After the goods arrived at the port, the Canadian border service transported the container to a special inspection warehouse for storage.
It is understood that the container can not be transported out of the terminal until December 6 at the earliest. In this case, he needs to pay up to $30000 during this period.
Vancouver faces strike threat
One wave after another, Vancouver Port has just experienced a strong rainstorm and faces the risk of strike.
Yesterday, two container truck drivers serving Vancouver voted to approve the strike. This will undoubtedly be another blow to Vancouver Port.
The strike will affect about 200 of the approximately 1700 drivers serving the port. Due to the closure of the railway services from the Canadian National Railway Group and the Canadian Pacific Railway Company to Vancouver, the port is facing a large amount of cargo accumulation.
As of Wednesday, 43 ships had been waiting at the port.
